TENSIONING THE VINYL
No useful purpose is achieved in over-tensioning a vinyl face! This is true is all cases, but it's particularly important when negotiating internal and external corners with a continuous face. The tensioning should be appiied gently and be just sufficient to remove irregularities - creases etc. Over-tensioning will not remove creases, but will deform the aluminium. Surplus vinyl in the middle of a tensioned face can only be removed by easing the surplus out to the end of the face. To achieve that, it may be necessary to release tension on the face back to the surplus, then re-tighten the clips whilst pulling on the free end of the vinyl.
PROCEDURE
01. Hang the clipped vinyl into the top of the box, allowing the clip to be eased in for ONE click.
02. Repeat the procedure for the bottom.
03. Pull the vinyl out towards the ends ofthe box, push the clips in at one end, TWO clicks ( doesn't matter which end )
04. Give a final pull on the opposite end of the vinyl, smoothing out any fold/creases along the top/bottom of the box, and place the clips in the end of the box and push the clip home.
05. Repeat this procedure at the opposite end.
06. If you have carried out this correctly, the skin should be sufficiently taught, you only need then to press home the clips on the top and bottom evenly, using thumb pressure only, you may need to apply further pressure at the ends by using the tension tool.
07. Do not try to tension the face as tight as drum skin! You are wasting your time and are likely to deform the box.
08. When the skin has been tensioned satisfactorily, trim the surplus vinyl including the four corners, to allow the cover to fit flush.
09. Make sure the skin is cut to the correct size prior to installation. If the skin is bigger than the recommended cut size the clips will he placed in the wrong position on the skin, resulting in the clips bottoming in the box, due to the excess material.
